Keep It Classy, Google
I found this today. Just creepy to me. Is this creepy to anyone else?
Revealed: The amorous teenagers caught in a clinch by Google Street View camera
Article: UK Daily Mail
This is the amorous couple who were captured in a romantic clinch seen the world over on Google’s Street View.
And the embrace meant more than a quick snog for these teenage love birds – as it was actually their very first kiss as a couple.
Laid out on the grassy bank on Common Road in Wolverhampton, Eddie Bateman and his girlfriend Hayley Moss don’t look like they have a care in the world as they lock lips on the cold afternoon in March.
But unbeknown to them their first embrace was filmed by a passing Google Street van last year, as they stole away for a quiet moment together.
The pair, who had only just got together when the picture was taken, said they were so engrossed in each other they never noticed the passing van which documented the special smooch.
Seventeen-year-old Hayley said she was ‘shocked’ when she first found out she was caught on camera kissing.
The sixth-form student, who has just taken her AS levels, said: ‘I couldn’t believe it, I wouldn’t admit to it being me at first, as I was worried it looked quite bad, as it looks more than it is, but it really was just a kiss.
‘I think it’s amazing that our first kiss has been in the paper.
‘In the end I had to give in and tell people. They were, like, “Come on, we know that’s you… We know it’s definitely Eddie, so it must be you”.’
Hayley, who lives in Wolverhampton, said she remembered the moment fondly because they were trying to sneak away from her parents and friends – who they were yet to tell about their relationship.
‘I remember that day, we hadn’t told anyone we were together then, and I didn’t want anyone to know,’ she added.
‘We literally had just got together. I was studying for my GCSEs and my mum didn’t want me going out very much as I was supposed to be studying.
‘I remember meeting him there, it was about ten minutes walk from my house, and we just sat there, neither of us had any transport, so we couldn’t go far.’
Hayley, who is still together with Eddie, said her mom Julie, a 48-year-old cleaner, was initially shocked about finding out her daughter’s kiss was caught on camera.
But Hayley added: ‘Mom saw the funny side of it. My mates were the ones that first told me about it.
‘I couldn’t believe it and when I went to show my mom, she didn’t believe it herself until she saw it.
‘The phone hasn’t stopped ringing since then. It’s so embarrassing, though, but it does make me laugh.’
Eddie, 16, who is currently studying for his GCSE’s added: ‘My dad saw it first in the paper and was, like, “That is my son”.
‘It was just a cheeky kiss really, but I can’t believe that they caught our very first kiss. It’s incredible, I was just extremely shocked when I first saw it.’
It’s kind of cute, but man… Remember that time the Google van hit a deer and it showed on google maps street view? Oh, Google.
