KUHNER: Impeach the president?
The ‘Slaughter Solution’ would violate the Constitution
Article: Washington Times

The Democrats are assaulting the very pillars of our democracy. As the debate on Obamacare reaches the long, painful end, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is confronting a political nightmare. She may not have the 216 votes necessary to pass the Senate’s health care bill in the House.

Hence, Mrs. Pelosi and her congressional Democratic allies are seriously considering using a procedural ruse to circumvent the traditional constitutional process. Led by Rep. Louise M. Slaughter, New York Democrat and chairman of the House Rules Committee, the new plan – called the “Slaughter Solution” – is not to pass the Senate version on an up-or-down vote. Rather, it is to have the House “deem” that the legislation was passed and then have members vote directly on a series of “sidecar” amendments to fix the things it does not like.

This would enable House Democrats to avoid going on the record voting for provisions in the Senate bill – the “Cornhusker Kickback,” the “Louisiana Purchase,” the tax on high-cost so-called “Cadillac” insurance plans – that are reviled by the public or labor-union bosses. If the reconciliation fixes pass, the House can send the Senate bill to President Obama for his signature without ever having had a formal up-or-down vote on the underlying legislation.

Many Democrats could claim they opposed the Senate bill while allowing it to pass. This would be an unprecedented violation of our democratic norms and procedures, established since the inception of the republic. Article 1, Section 7 of the Constitution stipulates that for any bill to become a law, it must pass both the House of Representatives and the Senate. That is, not be “deemed” to have passed, but actually be voted on with the support of the required majority. The bill must contain the exact same language in both chambers – and in the version signed by the president – to be a legitimate law. This is why the House and Senate have a conference committee to iron out differences of competing versions. This is Civics 101.

The Slaughter Solution is a dagger aimed at the heart of our system of checks and balances. It would enable the Democrats to establish an ominous precedent: The lawmaking process can be rigged to ensure the passage of any legislation without democratic accountability or even a congressional majority. It is the road to a soft tyranny. James Madison must be turning in his grave.

Mr. Obama is imposing a leftist revolution. Since coming to office, he has behaved without any constitutional restraints. The power of the federal government has exploded. He has de facto nationalized key sectors of American life – the big banks, financial institutions, the automakers, large tracts of energy-rich land from Montana to New Mexico. His cap-and-trade proposal, along with a newly empowered Environmental Protection Agency, seeks to impose massive new taxes and regulations upon industry. It is a form of green socialism: Much of the economy would fall under a command-and-control bureaucratic corporatist state. Mr. Obama even wants the government to take over student loans.

Yet his primary goal has always been to gobble up the health care system. The most troubling aspect of the Obamacare debate, however, is not the measure’s sweeping and radical aims – the transformation of one-sixth of the U.S. economy, crippling tax increases, higher premiums, state-sanctioned rationing, longer waiting lines, the erosion of the quality of medical care and the creation of a huge, permanent administrative bureaucracy. Rather, the most alarming aspect is the lengths to which the Democrats are willing to go to achieve their progressive, anti-capitalist agenda.

Obamacare is opposed by nearly two-thirds of the public, more than 60 percent of independents and almost all Republicans and conservatives. It has badly fractured the country, dangerously polarizing it along ideological and racial lines. Even a majority of Democrats in the House are deeply reluctant to support it.

Numerous states – from Idaho to Virginia to Texas – have said they will sue the federal government should Obamacare become law. They will declare themselves exempt from its provisions, tying up the legislation in the courts for years to come.

Mr. Obama is willing to devour his presidency, his party’s congressional majority and – most disturbing – our democratic institutional safeguards to enact it. He is a reckless ideologue who is willing to sacrifice the country’s stability in pursuit of a socialist utopia.

The Slaughter Solution is a poisoned chalice. By drinking from it, the Democrats would not only commit political suicide. They would guarantee that any bill signed by Mr. Obama is illegitimate, illegal and blatantly unconstitutional. It would be worse than a strategic blunder; it would be a crime – a moral crime against the American people and a direct abrogation of the Constitution and our very democracy.

It would open Mr. Obama, as well as key congressional leaders such as Mrs. Pelosi, to impeachment. The Slaughter Solution would replace the rule of law with arbitrary one-party rule. It violates the entire basis of our constitutional government – meeting the threshold of “high crimes and misdemeanors.” If it’s enacted, Republicans should campaign for the November elections not only on repealing Obamacare, but on removing Mr. Obama and his gang of leftist thugs from office.

It is time Americans drew a line in the sand. Mr. Obama crosses it at his peril.

It appears my representative “worm” Scott Murphy (D-NY district 20) has turned and voted yes on this. Lock step with scumbags Gillibrand and Schumer.

    Dear All,

I would like to share with you my experience that I had yesterday March 20. I was given the opportunity late morning Friday morning to purchase a ticket for $25.00 bound to Washington DC to participate in the Rally at the Capitol. Once I had secured the ticket I moved quickly to get ready and after to getting bed on Friday night at 11:45 pm I laid my head down last night with visions of what I might happen on Saturday.

I awoke to my alarm at 2:00 am. I got ready packed the stuff in my cooler and got in my car to meet my five friends riding with me on the bus to Washington DC. We left Charlotte, NC at about 4:45 am and then proceeded to drive with only two bathroom brakes. Upon arrival my group made the decision to go straight to John Spratt’s office. Once past the metal detectors and protocol to get into the Longworth building we went to the fourth floor prepared to have a face to face with Mr. Spratt. As we entered the elevator I informed my companions that I really needed to use the restroom and would need to releave myself. We exited the elevator to be greeted by what was a nice young man telling us how happy he was to see so many of there to rally against the bill. We found the restroom and took care of business, and as we washed up this very sweet lady asked where we were from. We explained that we were from upstate South Carolina and that we were in Washington as a last ditch effort to convince our non representing representative John Spratt to reconsider his support and hence his vote for this bill. She explained to us that the Congressmen have been called to the Capitol on and off all day and that to vote on procedural items. She invited us to the offices of her boss from Oklahoma. We left the restroom and made our way to Mr. Spratt’s office. After the photo’s we took of each other pretending to knock on the door to the office owned by the people of SC. We did really knock…several times. We were told to be certain to announce our name and the town and state we were from at the door. This we did to no avail. Three times we knocked and three times we announced our name and city/state. We could hear voices on the other side whispering but they would not answer the door. I then noticed a mail slot located to my left as I faced the door that they were hiding behind…so I just bent over opened it and loudly said “cowards”. We then walked away the from the door dismayed and silent. As we neared the elevator…I guess the weasels inside of Spratt’s office thought we had gone. They opened the door and out they came smug smiles upon their faces thinking that they had somehow won a victory. We immediately decended upon them…smiles gone and a look of irritation on their faces. My companion says, “hey I remember you…you were at the town hall in August…you were the one whispering in Mr. Spratt’s ear when he did’nt know the answer or needed an excuse not to answer our questions. ” She gave us all a stone cold look and said “that is not true he could not hear you or your questions so I simply repeated the questions for him.” “We then asked how is Mr. Spratt going to vote?” They said he is still undecided about how he was going to vote. We then informed her that that was a bit unbelieveable considering Mr. Spratt is the one who wrote the Reconcilliation portion and since that part was to amend the original bill but Consitutionally could not cover or really amend the first bill because it could not address the changes to Medicare/Social Security and later Medicaid, as a 1974 law states that reconcilliation will/can not apply to reconcilliation for any reason. So the reality is this folks…it matters not one whit what they are telling us… this bill is going to pass as it with all of its little perks and vote buying schemes in place. The reconcilliation bill upon arrival in the Senate will be voted down because it contains the language in it to change Medicaid/Medicare/Social Sercurity, and the Senate bill as written and voted on in both houses will be law. You guys this the beginning of the end for America.

After that exchange they gave us one last dirty look and got on the elevator. We looked at each other stunned that we were treated with such arrogance and outright hostility. We then decided to go to the offices of Congresswoman Mary Fallin of Oklahoma, as her staffperson had extended the invitation earlier and we were in need of a friendly face. So to Mary Fallin’s office we go we knocked stated our names and where we were from. They immediately opened the door and invited us in. We spoke at length about our concerns on the original bill and the amended reconcilliation bill…they explained to us what we already knew but it was good to get an affirmation of it. Anyway they gave us passes to the gallery and told us to enjoy the day. Back out we went to our companion waiting outside with our signs and flags. Two of my companions wanted to go visit a friend who is married to a congressman from Kansas so they asked that we stay put while they did this. So off they went and we stood/sat around to wait. While waiting I struck up a conversation with a police officer who told me that in a little while they would need to clear the area because of the motorcade that was expected to arrive around 3:00 pm. I asked you mean Obama is going to pass by here and he nodded an affirmative on that. He also told me to watch that the congressman would be walking by because we happen to be standing at the route they take from their offices to the Capitol building… About that time I noticed that a couple of congressman walked across the street from the Capitol building….so I asked the cop are we allowed to approach them…he said of course as long as I posed no threat or behaved in a threatening manner I could say anything I liked to them…I could even yell them if I liked. So I walked up the hill and lo and behold the first thing I see walking across the street right in front of me is Charley Rangel with a few other congressmen. There was about 50 or so people milling around and I pointed out to them that Rangel was crossing the street I said look, “its Charley Rangel the tax cheat himself in person whooo wheeee” he gave me a murderous look and kept trying to outrun the gal that was a gnawing on his ass. Made me smile. So at that point I decided I was going to spend as much time as I could right there waiting for Mr. Spratt. In a little bit here came two of my companions and they said they heard me shout that all the way down the hill and was that really Rangel? Everyone around me was like yea it was and that was so cool to yell at them “Kill the Bill”. This is when we noticed just how many police officer’s with M16’s there were around us on this corner. It was a bit surreal. Anyway I noticed this black lady had walked up and it was like God just said go speak to her…so I did. She was there to rally against BHO/Lucifer and all the crap he trying to do to destroy our country. She was a treat to speak with and in a few short minutes I knew I had found someone with whom I had a lot in common with for the next 30 minutes we talked about God, country, and family. All of a sudden someone spies Barney Frank and they yell here comes Frank….so we all began to yell “Kill the Bill”…as he passed by he nor his minions would not acknowledge that we were even there. NO ONE hurled any sort of obscenities (I mention that because this morning I received a phone call from my friend from VA (the gal I just mentioned above) telling me to turn on CNN and right there was Barney Frank tell a whopper of a lie at about how someone at that corner yelled the word “faggot” at him…and I can tell you categorically NO ONE did that, in fact that was the only time that day that did he dare show his ugly face the rest of the day…he used the underground tunnel to go back and forth. CNN showed him walking across the street at that moment and he stated that was the place in which this took place…he lied and he lied big about that. So after my other companions rejoined the group which now consisted of my group and our new friend from VA we decided to go ahead and go to the gallery as two in the group and just recently done this during an earlier trip to Washington they gave their tickets to our new friend from VA and the other gal who did not go in with us to try to see Spratt. We walked down to the entrance…and the line was just too long so we decided to go back to the corner to see who we could see….and see we did there were so many I cannot remember all their names. We seen congresswoman from Texas, the one who talked on the phone while a consituent was trying to ask her a question, Sheila Jackson Lee…she brushed us off and would not speak with us. We spoke with a congressman from Maryland who did actually take a few minutes and hear us out…but again he was a bit condescending so I watched for others passing by to be able to yell “Kill the Bill” at them. Once we did this our for about 1.5 hours and that point our VA friend decided to go home…we parted with hugs and a sense of common purpose.

I will end there as I know that this is long and complicated. I will finish tomorrow with all the details of what I seen and experienced it was just amazing.

    Bob,

I already posted the first part on your web-site…I will do the second half tomorrow.

Good night my friend…as my signs said at the rally yesterday

    R.I.P.
Here lies the US Constitution at the feet of a treasonous Congress, Senate, and President

    the other side said

Kill the Bill instead of killing our Constitution

Today our country just died…I am sick over it.

After the departure of our new VA friend…we walked down to the rally in the front of the Capitol building to stand on the hill facing the Washington Monument and looking at the sea of people…someone with a bull horn standing underneath the trees starting yelling “Naaaancy, Naaaancy, Naaaancy” taunting the house leader…we stood there the six of us just surveying all those around…at that moment I knew in my heart that our struggle was just beginning. After about 15 minutes of this we decided to go back to the corner before the rally ended so that we could stake out our spot for what we hoped would be an escalation of interaction between us the peons and the our congressional masters. Make no mistake folks this is exactly how those WE THE PEOPLE have elected feel about us. So onto the Longworth building to stand with our fellow Americans shoulder to shoulder. Upon our arrival there were only about 150 people milling around so we planted our feet to that sidewalk with the resolve not to be removed…we were determined that the motorcade of BHO/Lucifer and his minions were going to hear and see us when they arrived at 3:00 pm. in less than 20 minutes the four corners of the intersection filled with thousands of people all waiting for the chance to show those in congress passing by that we are not chattel to bought and sold at the whims of those who have deemed themselves somehow better than those that are to serve. Our bonus would be to show BHO/Lucifer, as he rode by in his motorcade, that we will not go quietly, we will not worship him simply because he requires it, we will not allow him to destroy America without answering for it. I stood there listening to my fellow Americans talking to each other introducing themselves finding out where everyone was from and so on and so on. I spoke with a hispanic family from North Carolina, a sweet family whose father was a marine…I spoke with two New Yorkers from Buffalo, I shared a mint with a lady from Connecticut, I laughed with my fellow Americans as some wanted to know if Nancy was going to brave the crowd…I told them that she had already flown over us on her broom…the crowd went wild at that. I stood there for the next 3 hours and yelled at all the democrats as they snaked their way from their offices to the capital building and back at least twice they did this each time the crowd would yell, “Kill the bill” “Kill the bill” we gave a thumbs down sign. We spoke with the officers there at length about the need to push back so that the motorcade would have a wide berth…but those behind us and down the hill were having none of that…they stood their ground so that those of us in front had nowhere to go. As I said, I had no intention of moving back…I was planted there and there I intended to stay. Those on the corner in which I stood with shoulder to shoulder agreed that short of being physically removed we were staying put. I shook hands with a petit army nurse who was from Texas.

While we stood there on the corner the good for nothing congress members and those who did not support this bill passed us…you could easily tell who supported the murder of our Consititution they quickly walked by without once making eye contact…they were in a near run to put us behind them, after all who are we to them a mere speed bump on their road to the destruction of our Constitution…we are unimportant, insignificant, invisible to them we mean nothing to them…they are our masters and we should be grateful that they allow us to even exsist. Those who were fighting for us…they were so easy to spot…they engaged us shook our hands stopped and spoke with us, thanked us for showing up and bouying their spirits. I spoke with Mary Fallin from Oklahoma, Tom DeLay, a congressman from Kansas, a congressman from South Carolina, a congressman from Utah, a congressman from North Carolina and many others.

The last pass of the was a large group of congressman black and white that were all democrats, as there were no other congressional members around the crowd began to boo these moron it went on for quite awhile…these cowards looked straight through us the look on their faces said it all. They puffed up their chests and dared not make eye contact with anyone…there was a look of disbelif and irritation on their faces, did we not understand that they know what is best for us the stupid masses that they own…folks it was all there on their faces it was there in blantant and arrogant dismissal of us those that they regard as racists for standing up to them and their tyranny. We were among the elite and how dare we not fall down in worship of them and their dreams of destroying America and us. While we did boo and we did voice our displeasure at being treated and thought of thusly…I heard NOT ONE racial slur come from the mouths of my fellow patriots…it was simply to loud and they were in a near run to rid themselves of us. I take great umbrage to the lie of a racial slur being flung at them and I seen no one spit on anyone…it simply did not happen. That corner was filled with cops and a citizenry that would have addressed that sort of speech and action with swift and solid rebuke for such behavior. I suspect that those in that crowd of mostly black congressmen came out like they did simply to incite that type of behavior and when no one would accomodate them…they lied so as to discredit us and deem us a racist crowd. But there were several black folks in that crowd and they should be particulary concerned that they are considered the most invisible among us…for they have cut the shackles that bind them to the plantation mentality that the democrats count on to continue their enslavement of them.

So we stood there continuing to wait and when 3:30 came and still no BHO/Lucifer motorcade we asked our officer if things were still a go with it. The officer sheepishly admitted that the route had been changed as we the unruly mob had been deemed to dangerous for the motorcade to brave. I stood there feeling denied and once again the thought crossed my mind at how we really are insignificant/invisible to the one. We are so beneath him that he would deny us his presence that would show us…as I looked to my left toward the Capitol building I noticed activity upon the roof tops…snipers being put into place and men sweeping the area of people. I asked the officer if the motorcade would arrive o the left of me and he asked that I not ask that question…so we waited. 45 minutes late did the motorcade arrive and I shouted to the crowd “there he is” and pointed to the left. The crowd immeidately began to chant “kill the bill” and we kept shouting that until we were satisfied that the moron in chief heard us. Although we could not see him because the SUV was parked in such away that he was hidden from our view. I thought to myself I now understand why our government so broken it is being run by/filled with men and women that are cowards…and with a man who will not face those to whom he is answerable to…namely us!

So my friends, my companions and I left the area around 3:50 pm to head back to our bus…As we approached the Capitol building I noticed to my left that there were many praying there on the lawn…I felt compelled to join them, so I knealt down to recite a prayer for America and my fellow Americans. Upon arriving at our meet up location we were told that one of our bus compatriots had fallen and cut himself and that our bus would be delayed because our driver was on scene with him and could not leave him until the man was to be transported to the hospital.

The trip home was uneventful, and the few stops we made we were asked by many how did the rally go…at the restaurant where we ate many asked us how did it go and that they were so happy that we are standing up for them and us.

We arrived home 2.5 hours later than we expected due to the unexpected events of the gentleman who fell…but on a good note he received a few stitches and released by the hospital. He and his friend were staying the night in Washington and would rent a car to come home the next morning.

So there you have it…My experience from start to finish…the sad part John Spratt never did show his face he used the under ground tunnel fearful that he might have to acutally face us. He did exactly what he has been doing for months…ignoring us and deeming us unimportant…but come NOvember I will remember this act of treason and I will be certain that I share this with as many people as possible.

    Thank you for reading…
    JC
