President Penny Pincher

January 22, 2010

Funny… the only money he has no problem spending or donating… is ours. His? Psh. Hell naw.

Dear Leader Is No Leader in Charity
Source: Grand Rants

One might think that a $15,000 donation to charity for victims of Haiti’s earthquakes is a generous response to a terrible tragedy. In general, one might be correct.

In particular, this $15,000 donation came yesterday, more than a week after the 7.0 magnitude quake decimated the small nation. It came from our President and First Lady, out of their personal bank account. And it came for the following reason:

“[T]he Obamas were inspired to give upon seeing the response of millions of Americans who have given generously during tough economic times.” [Link]

Not the day of the earthquake; not the day after, nor the day after that. It was over a week later that the Obamas decided to donate. Not because they realized that the cause was worthy, but because the generosity of the American people was showing them up.

Americans have been giving at what could be a record pace. According to the Chronicle of Philanthropy, as of Saturday, $150 million has been donated by Americans.

That’s more than the U.S. government has committed so far…

Not that this lack of generosity is unusual for the Obamas. As the Huffington Post reports:

Up until recent years when their income increased sharply from book revenues and a Senate salary, Obama’s family donated a relatively minor amount of its earnings to charity. From 2000 through 2004, the senator and his wife never gave more than $3,500 a year in charitable donations — about 1 percent of their annual earnings. In 2005, however, that total jumped to $77,315 (4.7 percent of annual earnings), and to $60,307 in 2006 (6.1 percent).

Among those charitable donations, the Obamas listed “a $13,107 contribution to the Congressional Black Caucus as a charity gift”, HuffPo states.

Americans are arguably the most generous people in the world. Whenever there is a need, Americans donate tens and hundreds of millions of dollars almost instantly. Regardless of the economic situation or the state of our bank accounts, we donate whatever we can. Not only in emergencies like Haiti, but also on a regular basis, we donate to food pantries, soup kitchens, orphanages, church outreach efforts. We are Americans. We give.

It is unfortunate, then, that our nation’s leader only gives when it becomes politically expedient.

Goddamn, BarryO. I’m POOR people and I’ve donated that fucking much. Then again, like the blogger who put this together said: Americans are arguably the most generous people in the world. BHussein isn’t an American. He’s the Anti-America. One thing this blogger got wrong… America has no leader.

Well, he did give more than other Arab (he is more Arab than African) muslims gave.
    Bob A.

So right Bob…so far the mid east countries have donated little to nothing to the Haitian effort. But even when tragedy strikes muslim countries…the muslim does not donate. Islam by its very nature is not charitable. IF it were poverty in those countries would be a thing of the past.

    • January 22, 2010 3:08 pm

Good for nothing. The worst part? If the middle east countries needed anything; we’d be there. America. That’s how we roll.

  3. January 22, 2010 1:31 pm

Image is everything with these people.

I bet they wouldn’t even donate a thin dime, if they didn’t have to.

It’s sad. It’s BHussein’s policies and agenda that’s bankrupting our country – yet Americans still find a way to help. Obama? He didn’t want to be “shown up” by us commoners.

You’re forgetting, at least he donated. Sure, it may not be a large sum or came as soon as every one else’s but at LEAST he did it. You do not need to go after him for that too, it just looks like your digging for reasons to dislike him and his family now.
Also, it’s not like he is the only one who waited. The telethon was only last night, if your view is that he should have at least donated the next day, then shouldn’t you bring up the telethon? It may be slightly unrelated, but it was not the next day as it seems you would have like everything to be. Donations do not just happen overnight.

First, I just reposted this article from another source, which I also linked to. I didn’t write it, I just agreed with it. It seems like such an insignificant amount of money – especially when compared to the lifestyle he and Michelle live – on our dime.

      http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2433643/posts A $2,763 coat?

      http://www.nypost.com/p/news/national/item_UPMlaWkOLA0DNOmIBouOcL;jsessionid=1F125FF0A1D663F5F2FBC811A54F05DDhttp://freedomeden.blogspot.com/2008/10/michelle-obama-and-room-service.html A $30,000 ring?

      http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2009/05/michelle-obama-shoes.html $540 for a pair of shoes?!

That’s just a FEW examples of their not-so-frugal lifestyle. Don’t forget about the lobster and caviar, the expensive (and numerous) vacations, and date nights! Can’t forget the date nights! All paid for by us. You and me. Every working American that pays taxes.

If it was up to ME; I’d MUCH rather my tax dollars go towards something productive… say, donating to help people suffering because of a natural disaster vs. footing the bill for the the extravagant lifestyle and wardrobe of the Obamas.

We all have to have some skin in the game, after all. Since… well, you know. The economy is in the tank and doesn’t show any signs of improving anytime soon.

What if President Bush took as many vacations as the Obamas? What if Laura Bush spent as much as Michelle Obama on a wardrobe during an economic crunch? What if President Bush had donated $15K to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina? We would never hear the end of it.

You’d be surprised at how fast donations happen. We had volunteers and armed forces in Haiti almost immediately. People were donating whatever amount they could afford to help since the word of the earthquake in Haiti hit America. We’re just giving, caring, and compassionate people. That’s the American way.

Believe me. I don’t have to dig for reasons to dislike him and his family. They provide them every day – no digging necessary.

If we’re “giving, caring and compassionate people” then so is he for giving Haiti money. And yes, his SALARY is paid for by our tax money… So, he is free to use it however he would like as all other employed people are. Just because he is the President does not mean he should not be allowed to spend his money on things he would like.

  5. January 24, 2010 12:13 am

He’s not all that caring, compassionate, or giving. His SALARY; much like the salary of every working individual should be given in compensation for a job well done. What has he done well up to this point? The economy has gone to hell, unemployment is well over 10% all over the country, the current health care bill is highly unpopular; yet he still insists on getting it passed, the housing market, small businesses, the auto industry are all suffering because of his policies, so no. He hasn’t earned anything. In the real world – if he was working for a company and produced nothing but negative results, he’d be fired. The only things he’s been good at so far is spending OUR money, emboldening our enemies, demoralizing out troops, and reading words off of a teleprompter. Doesn’t quite sound like a job worthy of a paycheque to me.

You’re right, if he was acting in such a way in a regular day job, he would be fired. But he’s the President and that is not how it works. He has a contracted four years unless impeached. Being the President is a far different job, you can barely compare. When people were disapproving of Bush, he wasn’t “fired”, he got to stay.

      • January 25, 2010 4:31 am

I’m right, that’s for sure. So we agree on one thing. However, Barack Obama is not DOING what he swore to do when he was inaugurated. Uphold the constitution. He has fallen back on every promise he’s made. It’s a good thing when you think about GITMO being closed. Unemployment is way beyond 8% when he promised that it wouldn’t get that high. He is ramming unconstitutional bills through. He had not aired ANYTHING on CSPAN. He has NOT put his “bills” and ideas online for five days for the American public to read and digest before he passes them. He dicks around while our troops need help. He claimed that he’s NOT interested in victory.

As for Bush; just take a look at his approval ratings. They were HIGH up until the months after 9/11 – and when the Congress became overrun by democrats. Remember; the president cannot do ANYTHING without the approval of congress. Another fun fact – if you compare Bush’s approval ratings at one year into his presidency with Obama’s approval ratings one year into HIS presidency you’ll find that Barack Obama’s ratings are much lower. It wasn’t until Congress turned their backs on Bush and backpedaled on their word that Bush’s ratings began to plummet.

Another fun thing you can do is compare the markets at this point in Bush’s presidency to Obama’s. You’ll find that the markets were stable and very high. Obama? Every point that the markets went UP since he was sworn in has been crushed. They’re now at a much lower point.

What about employment? Care to take a guess who’s policies kept unemployment at a reasonable rate? No? I’ll tell you. It was Bush.

Would you like to know who kept us safe from terrorist attacks after the 9/11 massacre? Bush. Now? Now there has been numerous attempts at terrorist attacks on our own soil. Why is that? Because Barack Obama is a weak “leader”.

I could go on and on and on, but the tylenol PM says I better sleep. Just something for you to think about before you go comparing Obama to Bush.

Oh, and quickly; a recent poll showed that majority of Americans would rather have Bush in office again after seeing the purposeful destruction of our country that’s being carried out by Barack Obama and his cronies. I’ll find the poll and link it later on.

So, no. Obama is not doing his job. Bush did his job. Sure, Bush had low ratings, but NOBODY likes war. His approval ratings at the time of the 9/11 massacre was somewhere in the 80s if I remember correctly. Had we not been attacked and Bush was to carry on his duties as president without having to manage two wars – how do you think he would do? Fantastic is my guess.

Not that they did not try…which is just what trying KSM in the justice system is all about. The cowards that have hijacked our country and are currently shitting on our Constitution do not want the truth to come out about just how effective GWB and company were at their jobs. They need to drag out this travesty of justice…and by doing so they are putting millions at risk. This about getting KSM off and making GWB and company look at bad as possible (where they will be tried in the court of public opinion and then they will spin all to fit their narrative on the presidency of GWB). BHO/Lucifer and company know that many things will need to be kept secret and out of the public eye…by doing this KSM will not get a fair trial. A mistrial can be delcared, or worse yet a not guilty plea will happen and when it does double jeopardy will apply then. Setting this butcher free to kill again. So go ahead and keep telling yourself that BHO/Lucifer is doing his job…that is at best laughable and worst dangerous.

  6. January 24, 2010 4:33 pm

    DB,

Hear! Hear! Well said. BHO/Lucifer is a total failure and too arrogant to admit it. I hope he continues the “successes he has had in the eyes of his worshippers…thinking people see the train wreck for what it is…not for what they want it to be. BHO/Lucifer by his own admission does not put forth his real self, instead he lets folks project onto him what they want. He is a master at this…and those falling for it are nothing more than slaves.

I’m not saying I have ALL the answers, JC… lol.

I just call it as I see it. Anybody with a triple-digit I.Q. can see that BHussein Obama has accomplished absolutely nothing productive. Not during his “presidency”, not during his what… 150 days as a Junior Senator, nothing in college (otherwise I’m sure he’d release his college documents), nothing as an adolescent. Nothing. In fact, to this DAY everything he tries to accomplish has been a failure. Keeping unemployment below 8%? Fail. Bringing the Olympics to Chicago? Fail. Having a solid voting record as a Senator? “Present” (see also: Fail) Keeping this country safe from terrorists? Fail. Giving our troops the power and support they need in order to fight America’s enemies? Fail. Socializing health care? Pushing Cap and Trade? This could have been done while he has a filibuster proof majority? FAIL. (however, I’m glad for the previous two). In fact, the only thing he’s been successful at is proving to the world that he isn’t George W. Bush.

Too bad, huh. In true Donald Trump style; “You’re fired”.

“Keeping this country safe from terrorists? Fail.” <– Wasn't Bush a much LARGER failure with this?

  7. January 25, 2010 4:35 am

No, Sarah. Bush was GREAT at keeping us safe from terrorist attacks after the 9/11 massacre. Since Bush left office would you like to guess how many attacks have been attempted on our own soil in the name of Jihad? Some failed – some didn’t. Take the Fort Hood Massacre for instance.

Gotta love Bush. He’s the liberal whipping boy when they can’t come up with anything positive to say about Barack Obama. I’ve noticed this is quite a popular thing with liberals. I bring up the bad things about Barack Obama; nobody can defend him by stating anything positive and truthful about him.

    Funny how that works, huh?

  8. January 25, 2010 3:05 pm

Good heavens…GWB is out of office and no longer a viable point of arguement. sarah name one incident that GWB and team allowed to come to fuition during the years after 9/11. He and his team stopped them at the planning stage or earlier…not one came as close as the undie bomber and the AK shooter and the Ft. Hood shooter…to me that is a success…unlike the current wussy that now holds our security in his hands. So far we have had numerous near misses…all of which could have been thwarted had they had the testicular fortitude to do the job of keeping us safe…I suppose you would rather we continue the submissive bowing and begging for forgiveness as a means to keep America safe. This is a dangerous world and NO amount of bowing and bootlicking is going to make the “crazies” of the world love and respect us. Only a someone who is either blind or stupid could argue otherwise.

    • January 25, 2010 4:58 pm

Well said, JC. President Bush was SO GOOD at keeping us safe after the 9/11 massacre (that killed 3,000 of our American brothers and sisters) that life – for the most part – fell back into place for most of us pretty quickly. He didn’t bat an eye. He didn’t waste any time. He went out and kicked some ass. Life, for me started to change at that time. I LIVED in the nation’s Capitol at the time. I DREAMED of visiting the White House and the Pentagon. Our senior class trip was to DC for US Government class. The monuments, the White House, and the Pentagon. We were all on the bus… I had my headphones on (Always a music nerd). I was staring at my reflection in the window. Something past that caught my attention. I broke my stare and looked THROUGH my reflection only to focus my eyes on what was left of the Pentagon. I can’t even describe that feeling. Like a heavy stone in my heart and my stomach felt like it was full of sand. Months later my Dad was deployed to IRAQ. One of my favourite pictures of my dad is one of him standing in front of the fallen statue of Saddam Hussein. He was wearing his BDUs, some war gear, and a BIG fucking grin.

Really, people who don’t understand how well President Bush did when it comes to keeping America safe simply choose to be ignorant. That’s all.

Just you wait. It’ll happen again. Then what?

  9. January 26, 2010 2:59 am

They’ll blame GWB and company…just watch and see before the year is out another terror attack is going to happen and when it does it will all be GWB’s fault. This administration is a nothing but FAILURE from the top right on down. They are incapable of protecting us from those who would do us harm. In his own words…”I will stand with the muslims”…not very comforting…and definately does not inspire me to feel safe.

    • January 26, 2010 3:09 am

They’ll always blame President Bush. It’s like the only “ammo” they have. Fortunately it’s like being shot by a gun that shoots bubbles. A year into BHussein’s “presidency” they STILL refuse to man up and take responsibility for what’s theirs. Typical libtard tactics.

Just wait until they try to sign up for Food Stamps and Welfare just to be turned away because of lack of funding. Oh, how I laugh.

To be completely honest, JC, I’m surprised there hasn’t been a successful attack as devastating as the 9/11 Massacre – which was carried out by BHussein’s Muslim brothers. I can’t wait to be a soldier. I’ll shoot ’em all and let “allah” sort ’em out.
